We had the opportunity to go to Vail for a week with Brian's work. This is definitely one of the more exciting places he will visit. The schedule really worked to our advantage as well. They were at the bank Wednesday through Tuesday so we got to stay over the weekend. Normally they just go Monday through Friday, but for some reason this trip was different. He did not have to work over the weekend but we still had the hotel paid for and even his meal per diem. So, we basically got a free weekend in Vail.
We stayed at some condos known as Antlers at Vail. They were really great. We had a full kitchen so that was nice we didn't have to eat out everyday. It was located in Lionshead Village right off the river. It was gorgeous views. From our balcony we looked over the pool and hot tubs, the river, and the mountains.
Maddy and Camden learned all about the gondola. It was about a 2 minute walk from where we were staying and we rode it 3 times. It is normally $20 a person which is a little ridiculous if you as me, but Thursdays-Saturdays after 4 pm it is free. So we made sure to ride it all 3 free days. We saw some beautiful views from the top of it as well.
During the summer Vail has a lot going on during the week. On Thursdays they have a jazz festival in the square so we went down to that. I normally am not a huge fan of jazz, but this band was great. The kids had a blast listening to live music and dancing. On Fridays they have family activities in the square. Maddy and Camden were a little to young for most of it, but they did have some crafts to make and they really enjoyed that. They each made a silly hat.
Brian got the kids to play in the river with him which was absolutely freezing, but they all had a good time.
It was such a fun trip! We look forward to more exciting travels with Brian!

I got to say, Brian's new job seems to have some great perks! Vail sounds like a fun place to live... too bad you probably have to be a millionaire.
You guys are world class travelers these days! Glad you are having such a fun and adventurous summer! :)
What a fun "work" trip! You are going to get to see all parts of CO--how nice. I here Paonia is next. That will be nice and close to everyone on the western side of the state. Wish we lived closer.
I love it how Maddy has to wear a dress or a skirt. She is so cute! The travle seems like it's treating you well. It was good to see you guys again in Montrose.
What an awesome work perk! Sounds like a fun adventure...made even better by someone els picking up the tab!!!
