A Week with Grandma Swain

We were fortunate enough to have Grandma Swain come visit from Texas for a week. She even had to stay an extra day due to the storms in Dallas that shut down the airport. Maddy and Camden always love when someone comes to visit them. I do believe though that Maddy and Camden felt we went to too many stores for one week. We attempted to get pictures taken of the kids and were only successful with Maddy. Camden screamed hysterically the entire time, but it was the best pictures of Maddy we have ever gotten. She wanted to do more, I guess she loved the camera that day. We also had lunch with some friends that lived in our Texas ward many years ago, and that was a lot of fun to see them and catch up.

(This is Maddy's beloved doll, Amy. They got a couple of matching dresses they could wear together)
Grandma was here for the local Easter egg hunt at the park. It was crazy; the number of people there and the amount of eggs that were laid out. The kids had tons of fun. Camden ended up with more eggs than Maddy, but she didn't care. She would only pick up purple eggs. She was much more concerned with quality rather than quantity.

Maddy and Camden also had their first adventures at Chuck E. Cheese's. I have been avoiding it for as long as I possibly could and now that they have been Maddy is constantly reminding me how fun it is. They aren't quite able to get most of the games, but there are a few that are aimed at young kids. However there was an amazing selection of rides that they loved; seeing that I usually say no to them at the stores they couldn't get enough of them. I guess we will have to go again one day with Brian (I am not brave enough to take them both on my own; although they do have a good security system).

We were able to get our house decorated thanks to help from Grandma's talents. Of course there is still more to be done as I am sure will always be the case. It definately is feeling more like home. Maddy also got her room decorated. For anyone that has ever had a conversation with Maddy I am sure you know that it is pink and purple. It is a "princess room". The biggest project were the letters here above Maddy's bed. She absolutely loves them so we thought we would show them off.

We had a couple of nice days that we were able to play outside. Maddy showed Grandma how she rides her bike that she got for her 3rd birthday. Of course it is a princess bike and she has a Dora helmet. Camden mostly just tagged along outside pulling the wagon.

Grandma has been gone for a couple of weeks and Camden has finally stopped asking every time he hears the garage if it is Grandma. So we are ready for anyone else that may find a way to Castle Rock!!!

blog rating

I got this from another great blog (thanks Anne) and thought it would be fun to see what our blog reading level was at. I have no idea what the ratings are on, but it is still good to know!! Try it out!

A permanent mark

Camden is definitely our little daredevil. He is constantly trying things he shouldn't be usually resulting in injury. More often than not he ends up falling on his head. There seems to be a permanent bump on his forehead. This latest bruise and bump is from falling off a kitchen chair onto the tile floor. I think this may be the worst bruise he has gotten yet. I have gotten countless remarks on the bump on his head. The picture doesn't even do it justice. I think I am going to have to make him wear a helmet around all day long, or the bump won't ever go away.

Zoe

We are introducing our new puppy Zoe. (Before everyone asks where we came up with the name Zoe we will just let everyone know that Maddy named her.) We got Zoe on Saturday from a local pet store. She is a Shih Tzu and Bichon mix. We have been looking at getting a dog for a little while now and she won us over. She is about 9 weeks old. Maddy and Camden absolutely love her! She is such a good puppy. She only gets up once during the night to go to the bathroom which she does outside! We have so far only had one accident inside and she was actually trying to tell us she needed to go. Our house is multilevel on the first floor so to get to the door you have to go down a couple of steps and she is too small to go up and down stairs. She was at the top of the stairs whining and we thought she just wanted to get down the stairs, but I guess she needed to go to the bathroom. Luckily she was on tile floor so it was easy to clean.

Maddy and Camden are so excited to have a dog and are always trying to play with her. I haven't gotten a really good picture yet of her. She doesn't want to hold still for photos. But here are a few so everyone can see what she looks like.

(I'm not sure why the eyes look blue in a couple of these pictures.
Her eyes are brown.)
